Meet julie mooberry

My journey began as a teenager, where I found joy in crafting stylish knockoffs of designer fashions from magazines.

In my early 20s, I embarked on a professional sewing career as a men’s tailor, learning the craft under the guidance of skilled European master tailors. Their mentorship instilled in me a deep understanding of the art of fitting.

Combining my tailoring expertise with garment construction, I later founded a bridal and special occasion business. It was here that I became known as the "Fashion Fairy Godmother," thanks to my exceptional fitting skills and compassionate approach to helping clients navigate body challenges. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting thousands of women during their most cherished moments.

While garment sewing has been my primary profession, quilting has served as my creative outlet. This passion led me back to college, where I studied textiles, fashion history, and design, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Consumer Science.

My work with the university’s costume collection ignited my love for textile history, preservation, and conservation, inspiring me to pursue a master’s degree in Material Culture & Textile Studies and Certificate in Quilt Studies.

Now, I’ve launched Julie’s Sewing Room to help makers of all levels and established organizations expand their knowledge, skills, and passion for textiles.
